Patterned

Patterned carpets are returning to the home. They have come a long way since garish florals patternss and moved towards a more subtle attitude. There are some beautiful ornate patterned carpets from traditional designs to smart motifs and colourful stripes that will look at ease in any home.

Remember to choose carefully to ensure the design will fit in with your scheme and not date too soon. Classic florals and motifs work well in a smaller space whereas a smart stripe, for example, will hold its own in a hallway.

As for colour, the same basic rules apply to carpet as to soft furnishings; light carpets will make spaces look bigger but equally if they are too pale they will show the dirt. Dark colours could make a room look smaller but they don't show up the dirt so much

Patterned carpets are manufactured in two ways:

Axminster

An Axminster carpet has always been synonymous with both a quality and luxury form of flooring. Axminster is a way of making woven carpets that offers great pattern definition. Each individual yarn colour that goes into making up the carpet pattern is selected by a gripper and woven with the weft. The fact that the individual pieces of yarn or tufts of carpet are woven gives an Axminster carpet its quality, longevity and durability.

Tufted

Most of the collections are manufactured from 80% wool & 20% nylon and suitable for all living areas of the home. There are subtle patterns for modern living and formal designs. Available in Naturals as well as Colours.
